SINGAPORE - Search and rescue operations are going on for a 32-year-old Myanmar national who went missing after he fell overboard from his boat yesterday morning.

The man was apparently doing some washing on the harbour craft, which was stationary, when he fell into the sea near Marina South Pier.

The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) said the crew member was reported missing at about 8.30am.

Two MPA craft and one Police Coast Guard craft, as well as divers, are involved in the search. The authorities have also issued navigational broadcasts to vessels in the vicinity to keep clear of the search and rescue area and to report any sighting of the missing person.

The missing man has worked here for close to four years, said a spokesperson from his employer, Everlast Marine Services.

Operations at Marina South Pier are not affected, said the MPA. The MPA is investigating the incident.
